The steps to Membership

There are a few requirements to become selected to be a brother of Jerusalem Lodge No. 26. Briefly: you must be a male, above the age of 18, not an atheist, of good moral character, and unanimously voted by the brothers of the lodge to join. While that may sound simple, be aware that the process to join Jerusalem Lodge is selective, the process does not flow quickly, and our Membership committee takes it seriously.

Here is an overview of the process:

You must express your interest in joining the lodge. This can be done by discussing this with a brother, or by clicking the "Membership Interest" button below and filling out the form.

You will then have a one or more discussions with brothers from our Membership Committee to gauge your interest as well as your fit within the lodge. They can also answer questions you have.

If the Membership Committee elects to proceed, you will be invited to dinners (typically on Tuesday nights at 6:30 pm) or other events at the lodge. This critical process typically lasts for a minimum of six months. This will allow you to get to know the brethren of the lodge, and them to get to know you.

Once again, if the Membership Committee elects to proceed, you will be given a petition to join, along with a form for a background check. You would give both payments for the background check and for processing the petition when you submit both documents to the lodge Secretary.

Subsequently, members of the lodge will schedule a visit with you at your home to have a discussion with you and your spouse or significant other to discuss Freemasonry, answer additional questions you have, and further evaluate your compatability within the brotherhood and the lodge.

After those are processed, the Membership Committee evaluates the petition and the home visit, and makes their recommendation. The Lodge then makes a vote upon the petition. A unanimous vote in favor of the petition is required to proceed.

You will be informed whether the vote was in your favor. If the vote was in your favor, an appropriate date will be set for your initiation into the mysteries of Freemasonry.
